The Fountain Community Theater will be performing a special tribute to our former president of the United States, Harry S. Truman called “Give ‘em Hell, Harry! by Samuel Gallu.

Give ’em Hell, Harry! is a biographical play, written by playwright Samuel Gallu. The play is a one-man show about former President of the United States, Harry S. Truman performed by Patrick Neill. Over the course of the play, Truman recalls many of his personal and professional triumphs and tragedies, uncannily capturing the essence of the President with humor and genuine emotion.

The title comes from an incident that took place during the 1948 Presidential election campaign. In Bremerton, Washington, Truman delivered a speech attacking the Republicans. During the speech a supporter yelled out “Give ’em Hell, Harry!” Truman replied, “I don’t give them Hell. I just tell the truth about them and they think it’s Hell.” Subsequently, “Give ’em Hell, Harry!” became a lifetime slogan for Truman supporters.

This was not a play it was adapted into a play from the book written by Samuel Gallu.
