Use Bow and Arrow to Help “Feed the Hungry” on June 11th

Use Bow and Arrow to Help

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – When it comes to helping those less fortunate in our community, there’s no shortage of people and organizations willing to help. Many businesses host regular food drives, the Care and Share food bank is the envy of most similar sized communities, and there are numerous resources that serve and help the under privileged with everything from temporary housing, to substance abuse, to finding and keeping work. One such resource has been serving more than 700 meals per day to the poor in Colorado Springs since 1985. Their work has impacted the lives of tens of thousands in that time.

On Saturday, June 11, Colorado Parks and Wildlife and the Colorado Bowhunters Association is asking community members and outdoor enthusiasts to do their part in supporting the work of The Marian House Soup Kitchen by firing arrows at some 3D targets. The annual event is taking place for the first time at the Cheyenne Mountain State Park 3D archery range, beginning at 9 a.m.

All range and park entrance fees for the range parking lot will be waived for participants in the 17th annual “Feed the Hungry” fun shoot, but a registration donation of $20 per adult, $10 per youth 12 years and under is required, and participants who bring wrapped and frozen big game meat from the 2015 or 2014 hunting seasons will receive three raffle tickets toward some nice prizes for each five pounds of food donated. Contact Cheyenne Mountain State Park to get registered: (719) 576-2016. Note: Participants wanting to access areas of the park other than the archery range will have to purchase a $7 daily parks pass per vehicle.
