Colorado Springs, CO – On June 16, 2017, at 7:37 PM, numerous Colorado Springs police officers responded to the area of the Boathouse near Prospect Lake in Memorial Park on a reported active shooter.
Responding officers located one adult male victim with a non-life threatening gunshot wound. Officers also determined there was not an active shooter situation. Officers set up containment and a K9 track was initiated but the suspects were not located.
The investigation is ongoing but has determined a shooting occurred between specific individuals involved in a disturbance. During the course of the disturbance, the individuals involved moved through Memorial Park and multiple shots were fired.
While officers were searching for the individuals involved in the shooting, an officer saw an individual matching the suspect description in an apartment complex in the 500 Block of E. Moreno Ave. Officers responded and contacted multiple people but did not locate any suspects.
At this time, there is not a danger to the public. Detectives from the Major Crimes Section responded and assumed responsibility for the investigation.
