Fort Carson Freedom Fest

FORT CARSON, Colo. – Fort Carson and 4th Infantry Division will host Freedom Fest July 1 and 2 at Iron Horse Park from noon – 10 p.m. both days.

The two-day event will feature a carnival and live music from the 4th Infantry Division band. Park admission is free both days.  Fees will apply for the carnival and attractions as well as food and merchandise.

A Liberty Edition Rod Bender’s Car Show will be at Iron Horse Park both days from noon – 4 p.m. The free show, organized and hosted by the Fort Carson Auto Skills Center, will feature more than 60 cars and included muscle cars, hot rods, customs, classics and military vehicles among others.  A trophy presentation will occur on Sunday, July 1, at 3 p.m. To register to include a car in show, go to http://carsonfreedomfest.com/#/home/car-show/.

Saturday, July 1, is open to all Department of Defense ID cardholders and their guests. A free kid’s obstacle course will be available from 6 – 10 p.m. A Liberty Edition Color Fest Run will occur from 7 to 9 p.m. consisting of a patriotic glow and color powder theme.  To register for the run, go to http://carsonfreedomfest.com/#/home/color-fest-run/.

Sunday, July 2, the event is open to the general public. The event will conclude with a fireworks show at 9:15 p.m.

Attendees are welcome to bring chairs and picnic blankets to the event. Parking is a distance from the event site, be prepared to walk once parked. Pets, with the exception of American Disability Act service animals, and glass containers and coolers are not allowed. Smoking will be allowed only in designated areas.

Sunday, July 2, visitor passes will not be required from 11:30 a.m. – 9 p.m. Only access for non-Department of Defense (DoD) identification card (ID) holders will be Gate 1 (access off of Highway 115), Gate 4 (access off of Academy Boulevard) and Gate 20 (access off of Interstate 25).  Those accessing the installation for the celebration will have to show a current driver’s license, auto registration and valid auto insurance. Allow extra time in the event of a vehicle inspection. Military working dogs will be active in the event area.

All personnel entering Fort Carson must be in possession of a valid state or federally issued photo ID from a REAL ID Act compliant state.  If using an ID from a state or territory that is not REAL ID Act compliant, then an approved secondary form of ID is required.  More information on the REAL ID Act can be found at https://www.dhs.gov/real-id. Current states not in compliance are: Alaska, Kentucky, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia and Washington.

All personnel must park in designated parking areas. Parking in prohibited areas will result in a citation and the vehicle will be towed. Please follow the signs for designated parking areas. The area around Iron Horse Park will be congested, drivers are asked to slow down and watch out for pedestrians.

No personal fireworks are allowed on Fort Carson.

Weapons will not be allowed at the event site with the exception of authorized law enforcement officials. County, state and federal civilian concealed carry permits are not recognized or valid on Fort Carson.

Despite Colorado amendment to legalizing recreational marijuana, wrongful use or possession of marijuana on a Federal installation is a violation of federal law. Those attending the celebration, federal law continues to prohibit the use of marijuana anywhere on post.
