Colorado State Patrol Distracted Driving Enforcement

The Colorado State Patrol (CSP) is pleased to announce the second wave of our 2015 Distracted Driving campaign. Friday night, motorists all around Colorado will see an increase in CSP patrols looking for distracted driving behaviors. In Colorado, any driver under the age of 18 is prohibited from using a telephone while operating a motor vehicle. Any driver is prohibited from texting while operating a motor vehicle.

The CSP is proud of the partnership with CDOT and their continued commitment to the reduction of fatal and serious injury crashes along Colorado roads. Beginning today motorists will see the Variable Message Boards across the state reminding motorist to “DROP THE DISTRACTIONS.” At the beginning of 2015, the CSP made the internal announcement that Distracted Driving will be the focus of our efforts throughout the year. The initial enforcement wave ran from March 20th and concluded March 22nd. Through a grant from the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) , the CSP will strictly enforce the no texting law as well as focus on other distracted driving behaviors which lead to crashes involving serious injuries and death.
