Fountain Valley 5K for the Fallen will be held this year on Saturday September 3rd, 2011. This year’s 3rd Annual Fountain Valley 5K for the Fallen event will take place at Widefield High School CA Foster Stadium at 615 Widefield Drive in Widefield, CO.
The Fountain Valley 5K for the Fallen was started in 2009 by the family of SPC Ronald James Tucker who was killed in Baghdad, Iraq while serving his country. Ronald graduated from Fountain Fort Carson High School in 2005 and was involved in the JROTC program while attending Fountain-Ft. Carson high school.
The Tucker family became a Gold Star Family on April 30, 2008. Gold Star families are any member of the immediate family of a person who died in a combat zone while a member of any branch of the armed forces. The Fountain Valley 5K for the Fallen honors all the men and women who have given their lives for our country.
Funds raised from the event will be used to provide scholarships to JROTC high school students in Fountain School District 8 and Widefield School District 3 who attend Fountain-Ft. Carson High School, Widefield High School and Mesa Ridge High School in the Fountain and Colorado Springs community.
