Colorado Springs, CO – Colorado Springs will have several events celebrating this years Chinese New Year, the Year of the Dog.  Chinese New Year is also known as the Spring Festival or Lunar New Year.  In 2018, the first day of the Lunar New Year is on Friday, 16 February 2018 and is the year of the Dog.

17th Annual Chinese New Year Festival at the Colorado Springs City Auditorium

Colorado Springs, CO – The Colorado Springs Chinese Cultural Institute will ring in their 17th Annual Chinese New Year Celebration at the City Auditorium on Saturday, February 10, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m with dancing, singing, Dragon Dance, food and cultural booths.   The City Auditorium is located at 221 East Kiowa. The tickets will be available at door: Adults $6, Children 5-9 $5, Active duty military and CSCCI member $5 and Children under 5 free.

They will have lion and dragon dance, Chinese, Thai, Cambodian, Filipino and Indian Dance by Talian Dance Group, and Martial Art by APEX Taekwondo Academy.

Chinese Lantern Festival and Traditional Chinese Hot Pot Dinner at the Chinese Cultural Institute – Hot Pot Dinners is similar to Western fondue.  Each person at the table chooses their choice of sliced beef, shrimp, meatballs, noodles and vegetables.  The food is then dipped in boiling broth to cook.  Once cooked you can enjoy the savory meal along with rice.
