Growing Edible Mushrooms
Saturday, July 12th –10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. (20 participant maximun) Cost: $35.00
(Adults and Children Ages 12 and up, accompanied by an adult)
Do you love mushrooms? Have you always wanted to grow your own, but didn’t know where to start? This hands on workshop will cover straw based oyster mushroom cultivation in addition to outdoor growing methods.
Participants will create their own mushroom “kits” by pasteurizing straw and inoculating it with prepared oyster mushroom spawn. The workshop will teach how to care for the growing mycelium and in three to four weeks how to harvest a crop of mushrooms. The workshop will also teach how to extend the life of your mushroom kit by using it to create an outdoor mushroom patch in your garden.
Workshop produced by Mike Essam, President of the Pikes Peak Mycological Society (PPMS). For questions, please email Mike.

FVTimes.com was started by me, Liz Alexander with Pink Realty. Yes, I'm in real estate. I think real estate is so much more than buying and selling homes. It's all about the lifestyle, it's about community. Here in the Fountain, Widefield, Security and Southern Colorado Springs area we have such a wonderful sense of community. I wanted a place that best reflects the people, the places and the lifestyle we call home. FountainValaleyTimes.com is that place. We want to share what makes this community of ours so special.
