How to Take Exceptional Nature Photographs

What to Bring: Make sure you bring extra memory cards and batteries. Feel free to bring as much equipment as you are willing to carry. If you have a laptop that you can download images too, bring that as well. A waterproof case is highly recommended in case of inclement weather. Please bring your own lunch, plenty of water and any snacks you might need. Rain gear and comfortable walking/hiking shoes are also recommended.

Summary:

Geared toward the avid beginner to intermediate photographer, this full day, hands-on course offers an incredible opportunity to expand your nature photography knowledge and learn professional techniques to improve your images. Learn how to use your gear more effectively to take stunning macro and landscape images of the fauna and flora of Pinello Ranch.

The first two hours will be taught inside the barn for an easy to follow, interactive classroom workshop.  Through the use of a dynamic slideshow and a follow-along workbook, participants will learn about proper exposure in various lighting situations, using shutter speed and depth of field with intention and most importantly how to make sure your heart is engaged as a precursor to taking any photo. Bring your manuals, as you will learn tips on how to use YOUR camera to take better images. Plus, what would a photo lesson be without an in-depth look at composition to dramatically improve your creative skills and style.

Utilizing your new-found skills and knowledge, we will be venturing outside for a good part of the day to capture the beauty and essence of the area. Technical and artistic guidance will be provided along the way, along with photo challenges to stimulate your creative juices.  There will be lots of one-on-one time to answer any questions and offer professional assistance throughout the day.

In the afternoon, we will venture back to the barn to upload our photos for individual and class critiques. In the end, we will post a best of photo show on the Pinello Ranch Facebook page.
