SUMMER CAMPING AND ACTIVITIES BEGIN AT LAKE PUEBLO STATE PARK

PUEBLO, Colo. – Summer starts early at Lake Pueblo State Park. The park will begin moving into its summer operations this month, opening additional campsites and adding more services. More hours will be added to boat inspection stations and preparations are underway to reopen the swim beach for another season of fun in the sun.

“Summer may seem far away but really it’s just around the corner,” said Monique Mullis, park manager. “We’re getting geared up and excited for another busy year.”

Summer hours for Aquatic Nuisance Species (ANS) inspection stations will begin March 15. Summer hours are 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. All boats entering and exiting Lake Pueblo must be inspected.

Additional campsites will be opened March 28. Arkansas Point, Prairie Ridge and Juniper Breaks campgrounds will open at noon. Yucca Flats and Kettle Creek campgrounds will open at noon on April 25.

Lake Pueblo State Park offers a variety of campground sites and services including electrical hookups, water spigots and a camper services station. All sites are available for reservations and can be reserved up to six months in advance. Don’t delay. Reserve your favorite site now. Reservations can be made by calling 1-800-678-2267 or made online at http://parks.state.co.us/Reservations/.

Those looking to beat the heat this summer can take a dip in the Rock Canyon Swim Beach starting Memorial Day weekend. The beach opens Friday, May 23 and hours will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday.

“These are just a few of the things there are to do here at Lake Pueblo State Park,” said Mullis. “We’ve also got great hiking trails, fishing, and more. Come out and explore this summer!”
