Spring Ahead One Hour: Daylight Saving Time

Spring Ahead One Hour: Daylight Saving Time

On Sunday, March 13th at 2:00 a.m., move your clocks forward 1 hour.  Each spring clocks move up giving us an extra hour of daylight.  The reason for the change is to save energy by using more natural light than by turning on the lights and using electricity.  An easy was to remember which way to turn the clock is

“Spring forward, Fall back.”

The Fire Department is recommending you replace batteries on your smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors as you spring ahead one hour.  Even though most homes in America have smoke alarms in their homes, many studies show that up to 20 percent of those alarms don’t work due to batteries that no longer work.  Help keep your family safe be testing your alarms to make sure they work and putting in new batteries.
