On Wednesday, June 8th, the Fountain Police arrested the accused Craigslist Robber for two armed robberies in Fountain.
The Police Department received a 911 call reporting the suspect wanted for the Craigslist robberies was at an apartment at 7145 Alegre Circle. The caller reported seeing the suspect entering an apartment through a window.
Officers went to the home, knocked at the door but the suspect refused to answer. Police then called the suspect using the telephone number in the Craigslist Ad that also went unanswered.
Soon after, Scott called the police station asking about the police activity outside the apartment. Chief Todd Evans began negotiating with Scott to surrender, which he did without incident. He was arrested and held without bond for arrest warrants for failure to comply with conditions of the Military Court.
The suspect is identified as Lansfield Adam Scott, a 25 year-old resident of Fountain. His current military status is unknown; however he served in the U.S. Army, stationed at Ft. Carson. An unidentified female at the home is also being questioned to see if she was involved or knew about the robberies.
The silver Chevrolet Caprice pictured in the Craigslist ad was located at a nearby park in the 1500 block of Leigh Lane. The vehicle was recovered and a search warrant is pending.
The two robberies took place in the 7200 block of Alegre Circle, near Southmoor Drive & Hwy 85. The first incident occurred on Tuesday, May 24th and the second on Monday, June 6th. In both cases, the victims answered a Craigslist ad for mid 1990’s Chevrolet Caprices for sale for 1200.00 to $1500.00 per vehicle. In both cases, the victims met the seller near a wooded area south of the apartments to view the vehicle and the seller allegedly showed a handgun, took their money, told the victims to leave and then fired several shots as the fled.
Lansfield Scott will be booked into CJC for the outstanding warrants and Aggravated Robbery, a class 3 Felony.
