The Rio Olympic Downtown Celebration will celebrate the Opening Ceremony of the 2016 Summer Olympic Games on Friday, August 5 from 5-10 p.m. downtown Colorado Springs. This celebration is a city-wide event that is FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC and will feature live entertainment and food!
Join four-time Olympic medalist Bruce Baumgartner in helping us kick off the 2016 Rio Summer Olympic Games in downtown Colorado Springs!
Watch the Opening Ceremony on our 27-ft. Jumbotron screen at the NBC Stage, and get in the Rio spirit with a Carnival on Tejon, including acrobats (former Cirque du Soleil performers), Samba dancers, Capoeira performances, Brazilian sounds and dance. There’s plenty of fun for all ages, including:
Torch Run from the Colorado Springs Olympic Training Center to the NBC Stage
Olympic Sports booths with giveaways and demos
Denver Nuggets Slam Dunk Team, Dance Squad and Rocky
Denver Broncos with inflatables, cheerleaders, Miles, and trophies
More local sports pride with Switchbacks FC, Colorado Avalanche and Mammoth
