If you love NITRO at NIGHT, jet dragster flames lighting up the valley, and high-horsepower 200 mph racing action… we’ll see you at the NAPA Auto Parts “Night of Fire & Thunder!

While the track opened in mid-April for the 55th anniversary season at Bandimere Speedway, the first nighttime fire show of the season happens on Saturday, May 18th. The NAPA Auto Parts “Night of Fire & Thunder” features Nitro-powered nostalgia funny cars and front engine dragsters to wet your appetite for more the ultimate Nitro experience at the Mopar Mile-High NHRA Nationals. Also, 290 mph jet-powered dragsters will light up the “mountain”and rattle the grandstands.

Spectators can receive discount coupons from NAPA Auto Parts stores all along the Front Range. Over 20,000 spectators are expected for one of the largest single-day events at Bandimere Speedway.

The show begins on Friday for participants, as they park and begin to test. Saturday begins with qualifying and time trials for all classes in the morning.

Preliminary eliminations begin at 2 PM. Final eliminations begin at 7 PM in all of the feature classes, including the Purifoy Chevrolet Fast 16, Madcap Racing Engines Quick 16, Fineline 16, MagnaFuel Super Series, Titan 16 Jr. Shootout, Team GFYC Jr. Comp, and NAPA Auto Parts Stick Shift Shootout. Several thousand young fans will be in attendance as a result of qualifying for a free ticket through the “Race to Read”program. Over 30,000 students from 65 school participated. Top readers will be recognized to their outstanding achievements during the evening.

Most racers will be from the Colorado Front Range, with many traveling into Colorado from surrounding states to be a part of this special event.
