The City of Fountain owns and maintains Fairview Cemetery.
The earliest burial is said to be that of a pioneer woman who died in about 1862 while her family was passing through the valley. The land was later homesteaded by Moses Imes in 1870, and when his wife Mary passed away in 1871, she was buried here on the family land. The Imes family later turned over ownership and operation of the cemetery to the City of Fountain. There are over 1,600 recorded burials, including over 100 unmarked graves in the old section of the cemetery.
The Cemetery contains many beautiful monuments and historic headstones that date to the late 19th century. Photography is encouraged but touching can damage delicate old stones. Report any signs of vandalism to the City Clerk or Fountain Police Department. The Friends of Fountain Fairview Cemetery raises money for preservation and protection of the cemetery.
For information on guided tours or available plots contact the City Clerk at 322-2000.

FVTimes.com was started by me, Liz Alexander with Pink Realty. Yes, I'm in real estate. I think real estate is so much more than buying and selling homes. It's all about the lifestyle, it's about community. Here in the Fountain, Widefield, Security and Southern Colorado Springs area we have such a wonderful sense of community. I wanted a place that best reflects the people, the places and the lifestyle we call home. FountainValaleyTimes.com is that place. We want to share what makes this community of ours so special. You can find all my posts
