Lake Pueblo State Park Announces Seasonal Operation Changes

PUEBLO, Colo. – Lake Pueblo State Park, a popular reservoir with campgrounds is open for year-round use, but phases into winter operations beginning, Monday, Sept. 28, 2015 at noon.

This means some limitations to both camping and boating, are in place during the winter season.

Camping
Prairie Ridge, Yucca Flats, Kettle Creek and portions of Juniper Breaks and Arkansas Point Campgrounds will close for the season. Eagle View Campground and some of Juniper Breaks and Arkansas Point Campground will remain open for the winter and is available for reservations. The dump station at Arkansas Point will remain open throughout the winter. A camping permit is required to utilize the dump station.

Winter camping at Eagle View Campground includes electric hook up sites with centrally located water hydrants. A bathroom facility is also open, however, no showers are available.

Juniper Breaks Loop D sites #100-124 is also available for winter camping reservations. Juniper Breaks Campground sites are non-electric, with centrally located water hydrants. A bathroom facility with vault toilets is open throughout the winter.

Arkansas Point Campground Loop A sites #1-27 as well as the Main Road sites #94 and 95 may also be reserved for winter camping. All campsites in Arkansas Point Campground are electric hook up sites with centrally located water hydrants. A bathroom facility is open throughout the winter, however, no showers are available.

To make a reservation, call or go online to Reserve America 1-800-678-2267 or at http://parks.state.co.us/Reservations/. Campsites can be book a minimum of three days in advance and a maximum of six months in advance.

Boating
The aquatic nuisance species (ANS) inspection stations begins winter operations, Oct. 15. Lake Pueblo is open to boating 24 hours a day, but boats can only be launched when the inspection stations are open.

Inspection station hours for the winter season are 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. When the stations are closed, the gates to the boat ramps will be locked and no boats will be able to enter or leave the water.
