COLORADO SPRINGS — Residents and visitors are being asked to avoid the area around Cheyenne Mountain State Park as strong winds have downed power lines, shifted dirt and brush, and overturned at least one camper.
Power lines were blown down in front of the park entrance, and while fire and utility crews are on scene, entry to the park is unsafe.
Park staff is checking on visitors in the park and in the camping area where the camper was overturned, and so far no injuries have been reported. More information on damages will be released once a proper assessment can be made.
It is also uncertain when the park will reopen. For the safety of visitors and crews responding, please avoid the state park until further notice.

FVTimes.com was started by me, Liz Alexander with Pink Realty. Yes, I'm in real estate. I think real estate is so much more than buying and selling homes. It's all about the lifestyle, it's about community. Here in the Fountain, Widefield, Security and Southern Colorado Springs area we have such a wonderful sense of community. I wanted a place that best reflects the people, the places and the lifestyle we call home. FountainValaleyTimes.com is that place. We want to share what makes this community of ours so special.
