Living Close to Home

Spring 2014 LIVING CLOSE TO HOME class for adults and families:

Bee Keeping

Saturday, September 27th –1:30 a.m.- 3:30 p.m. (20 participant maximun) Cost: $10.00

(Adults and Children Ages 12 and up, accompanied by an adult)

Join beekeepers Lee Derr, Linda and Dave Overlin for an Introduction to Beekeeping.  Between us, we have over 70 years of experience, although we are still learning.  That is the really cool thing about beekeeping!  We hope that you’ll come away from this class with an idea if you want to actually try to keep bees, and where to go from there.

During the class we’ll explore questions such as:

–How does a hive work?

–Where’s the best place to put one?

–What if we have bears?

–How do I keep from getting stung?

–What equipment would I need?

–Where do I get the stuff (equipment)?

–How much does it cost?

–How hard is this?

–Can I do this in town?

–What is a yearly work schedule?

–How do you get the honey (extraction)

–What are some good resources?

–Do I really want to do this?

For Questions: Email Linda Overlin or call Linda at 719-576-7787.
