Colorado State Patrol Trooper hit, killed on I-25

DOUGLAS COUNTY – A Colorado State Patrol Trooper investigating a crash scene on I-25 was hit by a vehicle and killed Sunday night.

At approximately 8:50 PM a Trooper was parked on the right shoulder of southbound I-25 near mile marker 175 in Douglas County. While outside of her vehicle investigating the crash, she was struck by a vehicle. She sustained fatal injuries on scene.

It is with great sadness that the Colorado State Patrol sends this update to identify the Trooper killed in last night’s crash. The Trooper involved has been identified as 33 year old Jaimie Jursevics. Trooper Jursevics joined the Colorado State Patrol in January 2011. She was initially assigned to Troop 4-C Vail and transferred to Troop 1-C Castle Rock in 2014. She is survived by her husband and young child. Last night Chief Scott Hernandez gave a statement about our loss. “Our family has been hurt today. A senseless act has taken the life of someone who swore to protect Colorado. We offer our thoughts, prayers and full condolences to her family. The driver of the vehicle was taken into custody.
