Colorado Soccer Club Has a Home in East Colorado Springs

The Colorado Rush Pikes Peak Soccer Club announced to their membership via email that a new state of the art, all grass soccer complex will begin construction later this month. The 10.25 acre complex will be located near the Colorado Springs airport on Resnik Drive. This is just East of the Powers Boulevard and Hancock
Expressway interchange and due North of the Sky View Sports Complex.

When complete, the yet to be named complex will host league matches, training sessions, and provide a home for the newly formed Eastside developmental program beginning this Fall. In addition, the area will also be used for all TOPSoccer (The  Outreach Program for Soccer) sessions and become the new home for SeSSI, The Southeast Springs Soccer Initiative.

Rush Pikes Peak Soccer Club has established programs to cater for athletes with Autism, Down syndrome, and Cerebral  Palsy. Future programs will be established for athletes with other disabilities not currently catered for. The Thunder program is directed by Rick Smith:  “With the lack of specialized soccer programs currently available to young athletes with disabilities in Colorado  Springs, I am delighted that Rush Pikes Peak can now provide such opportunities. My goal is to make disability soccer available to all that would like to participate and pave the way to make disability soccer a parallel sport with  its able-bodied counterpart.”

Also benefiting from the new facility will be the Southeast Springs Soccer Initiative (SeSSI). SeSSI uses soccer to promote positive choices, leadership, hard work, enjoyment, and community connections for at-risk youth. Rush has been affiliated with the program since 2014 and has had four SeSSI teams play as Rush Pikes Peak recreational and competitive teams.

The location of the new facility will provide the youth of that area a place to play and call home. Elisabeth Almond, SeSSI committee member, and Youth Violence Prevention Coordinator at Penrose St. Francis Health Services had this to say about the project and their relationship with Rush Pikes Peak:  “As a member of the Southeast Springs Soccer Initiative, I honor Rush Pikes for their commitment to ALL of the youth in our community. We are beyond thrilled to see the expansion of this soccer program that continues to show a passion for giving the youth in our community opportunities for success. Also, as the youth violence prevention coordinator at Penrose St. Francis Health Services, I am thrilled to see the expansion of Rush Pikes Peak who every day shows commitment to ALL the youth in our community.”

This incredible project would not have been possible without the continued support of the loyal Rush Pikes Peak membership.

These will be among the best youth soccer fields in Colorado and the athletes that play on them will immediately notice the attention to detail that has gone into planning this complex. Nik Penn, former Pikes Peak Soccer Club Technical Director and current Rush Pikes Peak Junior Girls Director of Coaching added:
“Having our own complex will enable us to develop players to an even higher level and with the support of being part of a multi-national soccer organization the future of Rush Pikes Peak is looking as bright as ever.”

The club has set August 8th as the target for opening and is actively pursuing sponsorship relationships as well.
