Cheyenne Mountain State Park Features Artist Matthew White

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Matthew White set out to capture in his “Isolated Tranquility” series, and it is on display at Cheyenne Mountain State Park as part of the Art in the Park program.

In his photographs, White isolates the composition of the subject to evoke feelings and emotions in the tranquility of the often overlooked everyday moments found in nature. The simplified backgrounds lead the viewer to focus on the conceptual complexity of the serene – a paradox of the toils of survival and the pleasantness of life.

“Isolated Tranquility” will be showing at the Art in the Park Gallery in the park visitor center from July 1 through August 31. Each featured unique art piece was developed from images taken in the park making it a great spotlight to encourage support of our Colorado State Parks and to enjoy all that our state
parks system has to offer your friends and family.

White earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting and Printmaking from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. While finishing his undergraduate degree he completed the Reserve Officer Training Corps and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the United States Army. In addition to being stationed in several places in the United States, he lived in Germany and Belgium, and was deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan.
