Wear your western boots, hat, and gear and come downtown to celebrate our western heritage on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 from 5:30-9:00AM at the corner of Pikes Peak and Tejon for the 54th Colorado Springs Western Street Breakfast. Breakfast is prepared and served by Fort Carson volunteers; $5.00 will get you eggs, pancakes, milk, coffee, and juice; children under 5 eat free. Proceeds from the breakfast go to support our local military families.
Collectible wooden tokens (tickets) for the breakfast may be purchased, in advance, from Boot Barn, Colorado Springs Conservatory, Colorado Springs Business Journal, Northwestern Mutual or the morning of the breakfast at the event.
Entertainment includes western music provided by West Bound and Headed East; a Kids Corral with gifts and face painting, a trick roper, and performances by the Colorado Springs Conservatory. Fort Carson’s Mounted Color Guard will be there along with the Girls of the West, the El Paso County Fair Queen and more. In addition, there will be drawings for great prizes.
At 8:00AM, watch the Pikes Peak Range Riders and many more riders on horseback depart from downtown. The ride is in support of The Cinch Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo and to honor and preserve the western heritage of our region. The route is Pikes Peak to Cascade, south on Cascade to Colorado Avenue, west on Colorado to Limit Street, south on Limit to Highway 24, which turns into 8th Street, south on 8th to Rio Grande Street, west on Rio Grande to Norris- Penrose Event Center.
