On September 6, 2014, at approximately 1223 in the afternoon, Officers from the Colorado Springs Police Department responded to the 8100 block of Summerset Drive regarding an injured child. Detectives from the Crimes against Children Unit responded to conduct the investigation. The child, 2 year old, Maddilynn Hernandez succumbed to her injuries on September 7, 2014 at approximately 06:30 AM.

The El Paso County Coroner’s Office conducted an autopsy and has ruled the manner of death as a homicide.

An arrest warrant has been obtained for 23 year old Kevin Diaz. Mr. Diaz is described as a Hispanic male 5’10” tall weighing 136 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. The arrest warrant is for Child Abuse Resulting in Death, a class 2 felony.
