CRIPPLE CREEK, Colo. – The entire Cripple Creek Casino Association now offers 24/7 alcohol beverage service to complement game play on slots, blackjack, poker, craps and roulette.

The move takes advantage of a 2011 law that enabled cities to create entertainment districts with special liquor laws. Municipalities around the state have used it in various ways to allow drinking at certain outdoor concerts and events, or to modify hours of consumption. The City of Cripple Creek is the first to offer consistent around-the-clock beverage service in its casinos.

Casinos operators in Colorado have sought 24-hour liquor sales since the approval of 24-hour gaming in 2008.

“We are very excited to see extended hours of alcohol sales approved in Cripple Creek,” said Century Casino General Manager Eric Rose. “We have seen an immediate increase in casino revenues due to the additional service and convenience of 24-hour alcohol sales. No more last call certainly allows more freedom for our guests who want to stay out later or are just getting off from work themselves.”

Despite the later hours and the increase in visitors, there have been virtually no problems. According to Police Chief Mike Rulo, “The impact on law enforcement and other emergency services has been minimal. The city has not experienced any increase in alcohol-related incidents, such as DUI, disorderly conduct or assaults, since the inception of 24-hour alcohol service. We have increased foot patrols in the gaming district to gauge the impact of the extended hours of alcohol service, and continue to collaborate effectively with casino staff to ensure the safety of our citizens and visitors.”

The Cripple Creek Casino Association members are Century Casino, the Brass Ass Casino, Midnight Rose Casino and JP McGills Casino, Bronco Billy’s Casino, Double Eagle Casino and Wildwood. (Non-members Johnny Nolon’s and Colorado Grande are not participating in 24-hour sales.)
