DIVIDE, Colo. – Colorado Parks and Wildlife is looking for any information to shed light on a poaching incident that happened northwest of Divide, Colo., sometime between Saturday, Oct. 29 and Sunday morning, Oct. 30.

District Wildlife Managers responded to a report of a dead bull moose off of county road 3, where they found the animal.

If you saw or heard suspicious activity in the area, or have information that could lead to charges filed, you are asked to contact District Wildlife Managers Tim Kroening at (719) 227-5281, or Phil Gurule at (719) 227-5283. You could receive a reward for information that leads to a citation.

The Pikes Peak Chapter of Safari Club International has made available a $2,000 reward for information leading to a citation in this moose poaching incident, bringing the total a tipster could be rewarded through Operation Game Thief to $3,000.

Brett Axton, president of Pikes Peak Chapter of SCI, said, “As sportsmen we are dumbfounded that someone could mistake a deer or an elk for a moose, and to shoot without regard for using the meat is reprehensible. They need to be held accountable.”
