The Colorado Springs Fire Marshal has denied all permits for commercial fireworks for the 4th of July. Nine firework displays were scheduled in the city from July 1 – 6. Due to resources committed to the Waldo Canyon Fire and the extreme fire danger due to lack of moisture, heat and wind the fireworks permits were denied and fireworks displays canceled.
There are also concerns due to the high number of incendiary fires started in the area over the last few days, including in Colorado Springs. Due to the current demand of resources, vehicles and fire investigations, CSFD does not have capacity to provide fireworks patrols.
The Division of the Fire Marshal, in partnership with Teller and El Paso Counties, is responding to and investigating fires that may result from illegal fireworks activity, in addition to the incendiary starts that continue to occur which is a top priority.
The Fire Marshal is requesting that citizens share the responsibility and be the eyes and ears for our community in order to keep the city safe. Please report any suspicious fire activity to law enforcement. Find 4th of July Events in Fountain and Colorado Springs.

FVTimes.com was started by me, Liz Alexander with Pink Realty. Yes, I'm in real estate. I think real estate is so much more than buying and selling homes. It's all about the lifestyle, it's about community. Here in the Fountain, Widefield, Security and Southern Colorado Springs area we have such a wonderful sense of community. I wanted a place that best reflects the people, the places and the lifestyle we call home. FountainValaleyTimes.com is that place. We want to share what makes this community of ours so special.
